Appointments
One-to-one appointments are there to support you when you need personalised guidance, whether you have a clear plan in mind or you are still figuring things out.
You do not need to know what career you want, what sector to choose, or where to start. Our events, resources, and appointments are designed to support all students, at every stage of their career journey, including (and especially) those who feel unsure, overwhelmed, or simply curious.
To help all students access support in a timely way, we encourage you to start with our events and online resources wherever possible. These are designed to answer common questions and help you gain clarity before moving on to one-to-one support.
Before You Book an Appointment
Many students, especially those who are unsure where to begin, find it helpful to start with:
- Careers events and workshops
- Introductory talks on career options, job search, and next steps
- Our online resources and guides
These sessions are suitable whether you:
- Have a clear career goal
- Are exploring options
- Or don’t yet know what you want to do
Check out upcoming events here
(Students must be logged into their Office365 account to access)
How to Request Support
If you would like careers support or have a question for the Career Development Centre (CDC) team, even if you are not sure what to ask yet, that is completely normal. Get in touch; your questions are always welcome.
When you submit your query, simply describe your situation or what you are hoping to get help with. We will respond and guide you towards the most appropriate next step, which may include:
- Suggesting an event or resource
- Providing advice by email
- Or arranging a one-to-one appointment
Our aim is to make sure you get the right support, without needing to have everything figured out in advance.
Booking an Appointment
Appointments are available:
- In person (on campus in the Career Development Centre). Find us
- Online via MS Teams (video or voice)
- By email, where appropriate
If you are on campus, you can also book an appointment by visiting the CDC in person during office hours.
During the semester, appointments are available to current, registered students.
If you have recently graduated (within the most recent three graduating years), please create a profile in the Graduate section of Careers Connect.
Accessing Careers Connect
To use Careers Connect, you must:
- Be registered for the current academic year
- Log in using your usual student details
If you have just registered, please allow one working day before accessing the system.
Using MS Teams for Appointments
All students have access to MS Teams through Office365. You may find it helpful to download the app in advance.
CV & Interview Support – Start with the Right Resources
If you are working on your CV, cover letter, or interview preparation, you don’t need to book an appointment straight away.
We recommend starting with:
- The Careers Information for Students SharePoint site
(Office365 login required) - Our CV and Interview advice pages
You can also use:
- CareerSet – for instant, personalised CV and cover letter feedback
- Big Interview – to practise and build interview confidence
These tools are suitable whether you’re starting from scratch or refining an existing application.
A Final Reassurance
There is no “right stage” to engage with Careers. Whether you:
- Know exactly what you want to do
- Are exploring ideas
- Or feel completely unsure where to begin
Our events, resources, and appointments are here to support you.
If in doubt, send us a query on Careers Connect—we’ll help you take the next step.
