Staff Contact

The 'staff contact' content type is particularly good for creating manual lists of Academic Staff.

Best Approach

This content type can be added to any page but works best when it's placed in a sub-section, on its own. We recommend you:

  1. Identify (or create) the section, in which you will want to list the people.
  2. Drill down to that section, in the Site Structure.
  3. Using that section's 'Actions' button, create a sub-section for each person.
  4. Add a 'Staff contact' into each one of these sub-sections, filling out that person's details.

Listing the staff contacts

Once all the sub-sections have been created, all you need to do is to edit the parent section (i.e. the section, in which all the staff sub-sections were created), and make it list links to all the new staff pages.

You could do this manually, by writing a list of names and turning each one into a section link.
But we recommend you tell the CMS to build the list automatically - this way, whenever you add or remove staff members, the list will auto-update.  There are a couple of ways to achieve this:

Method 1

Add a 'Widescreen Navigation' content type.  This will link to all the sub-sections it finds:

Method 2:

Alternatively, you can duplicate the piece of content called 'Staff List Generator' into the page you wish to list all your staff.
You'll find it in the section: University of Galway » T4 Training » Training » Training Examples » Staff Contact

Please note: This will list any 'Staff Contact' content types it finds in its sub-sections and link to them.
