Dr Una Murray recently attended the 2025 World Food Forum (WFF) as a member of the Irish Government Delegation, which was hosted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Rome (10-17 October 2025). The 2025 World Food Forum (WFF) theme was ‘Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future’, with addresses from a number of heads of state, including President Michael D. Higgins.

With Ireland sponsoring the attendance of many youth ambassadors from Ireland and the Global South amongst the 25,000 attendees, the 2025 World Food Forum focused on three main themes: (1) Global Youth Action, (2) Science and Innovation, and (3) Investment to enable transformations of our agrifood systems towards a more sustainable and hunger-free future. Participation included numerous representatives from governments, the private sector, civil society, international organisations, research institutions, youth, Indigenous Peoples and other stakeholders in agrifood systems.
