Threesis 2026 – Share the story of your reserach

Welcome to the official home of Threesis 2026, the University of Galway’s flagship training programme and research communication competition.

About Threesis

Threesis challenges postgraduate researchers (Masters, PhD, MD) to explain their work in just 3 slides, in 3 minutes in front of 3 judges - making complex research clear, engaging, and relevant to the public. From the first training session to the Grand Finale, Threesis is where clarity meets creativity.

Grand Finale – 29th April, 2026

Whittled down from a large pool of postgraduate researchers, Grace Barnes earned first place in competition with 10 fellow finalists at the Threesis Grand Finale, held on 29 April in the University’s O’Donoghue Theatre.

Threesis is a fast-paced research communications competition, and this year’s finalists showcased an exceptional breadth of research. Topics ranged from cancer biology, neuroscience and medical innovation to air quality, education and social justice, highlighting both the diversity and real-world impact of research underway at the University.
