Staff Training
The LGBTQ+ Staff Network, in partnership with the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Office, offers a range of training and development opportunities that support the University of Galway's commitment to creating a welcoming, respectful and inclusive environment for all. Through workshops, awareness sessions and learning programmes, staff can deepen their understanding of LGBTQ+ inclusion, equality and belonging, while contributing to a culture where everyone feels valued and empowered to be themselves at work.

This course explores the role of the university as a space for advocacy and activism in advancing LGBTQ+ rights. It considers how higher education institutions can support social change, promote equality, and create inclusive environments for all. Participants will examine the history and impact of LGBTQ+ activism, the importance of advocacy within university settings, and the opportunities and challenges involved in driving change. The course also highlights practical ways staff and students can contribute to a more inclusive and equitable campus culture. Participants will gain insight into experiences of trans and non-binary communities in Ireland today and build fluency in respectful language and terminology.
