Courses
(PgCert) Creative Technologies and Emerging Media
The Postgraduate Certificate in Creative Technologies and Emerging Media offers a unique combination of creative practice, coding and software skills, and cutting edge methodologies in the field of creative technologies. Over 3 modules and 2 semesters, students will be introduced to the key software platforms for the design and development of immersive and interactive media content, as well as computational creativity and generative AI. The programme will combine practical skills with critical engagement, including a focus on inclusive design.

Youth Academy Course: "Intersections: Exploring the blending of art, artificial intelligence and the creative process"
This six-week program immerses participants in the dynamic intersection of art, technology, and creativity. Through hands-on projects, they will explore the definition of art, experiment with traditional and digital mediums, and use cutting-edge tools to push the boundaries of creative expression.
The course fosters critical thinking about the evolving roles of humans and machines in art-making while building practical skills in animation and sound design. Through discussions, collaborative projects, and guided exploration, participants delve into themes such as creativity, originality, and the transformative power of technology. From crafting dynamic video sequences with AI-driven tools to composing unique soundscapes using creative coding programs, participants will develop their creative voice and technical confidence.
This programme is delivered by PhD researchers from the Centre for Creative Technologies.

About University of Galway Youth Academy
The Youth Academy at University of Galway is a unique opportunity for 4th, 5th and 6th class primary school students and 1st, 2nd and 3rd year secondary school students to get experience of learning in a University. Students will be taught by engaging and friendly instructors who are experts in their subject areas. All courses are highly interactive and use a variety of teaching techniques to ensure students get the most out of their experience at University of Galway. The courses we offer are outside of the school curriculum which allows students the opportunity to make new discoveries in different areas of study, in a fun and interactive way. The Youth Academy also enriches the school experience by enabling students to learn about new and exciting subjects.
