Congratulations to Final Year BComm with German students and their lecturer Dr. Jeannine Jud who won First Prize in the Centre for Irish-German Studies (CIGS) Video Competition! Produced by students Claddagh O’Reilly, Hanna Fairchild and Brendan Gunning on ‘Roger Casement’s German connections’ was acclaimed by Derek Scally, Berlin Correspondent for the ‘Irish Times’, for rendering its historical source material engagingly in a current perspective.
A huge thanks to Dr. Thomas Wilks from the School of LLC for coordinating the trip to the competition in Dublin.
The audience voted together with a panel including the German Ambassador to Ireland, the Irish Ambassador to Germany, the Director of Education for the Goethe Institute in Ireland and the Education Officer of the German-Irish Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
Here is a snapshot of their winning video. Their generous prize was €1000.
