Dining
The Academy has a small kitchenette with fridge and microwave for students to self cater on campus. Mayo University Hospital has a canteen and a coffee shop.
Café Rua on New Antrim Street only uses Irish meat and fish in its menus, and mainly locally-grown fruit and veg (organic where possible). Freshly baked cakes include lemon drizzle and coffee and walnut.
There are loads of other cafes here, too, with great reviews, such as Tara Café for its paninis, apple pies and scones.

Local Attractions
Castlebar has numerous attractions for everyone. It has received international recognition for both walking and angling. It is also centrally located for touring Mayo including Ballintuber Abbey, The Ceide Fields, Croagh Patrick, Foxford Woollen Mills, Moore Hall,and the Turlough Round Tower. You can take a stroll round Lough Lannagh and a must visit is the National Museum of Country Life in Turlough.

The Leisure Complex Lough Lannagh offers an 8 Lane - 25m competition pool, 15m learner pool, sauna & steamroom, persons with disability access ramp and poolpod for pools entry. The complex incorporates The Movement Gym as well as 2 yoga, pilates and reformer pilates suites. All memberships include full access to the entire complex which includes a swimming pool, health spa & gym and also includes entry into yoga & Pilates classes. Student ID is required as proof to avail of all the student rates.
