Our smartphones and tablet devices have access to all kinds of data that we must protect.

  • contact information
  • personal and confidential data

The steps below outline how to passcodes and security settings on our smartphones to keep them secure.

iPhone

  1. Open Settings: Tap the "Settings" app on your iPhone.
  2. Face ID & Passcode: Scroll down and select "Face ID & Passcode" (or "Touch ID & Passcode" on older models).
  3. Set Passcode: Tap "Turn Passcode On" and enter a six-digit passcode twice.
  4. Auto-Lock: Go to "Display & Brightness" and tap "Auto-Lock". Choose a time interval for the screen to lock automatically.
  5. Require Password: Ensure "Require Password" is set to "Immediately" for maximum security.

Android

  1. Open Settings: Tap the "Settings" app on your Android device.
  2. Security: Scroll down and select "Security" or "Security & privacy".
  3. Screen Lock: Tap "Screen lock" or "Screen lock type" and choose your preferred method (PIN, pattern, or password).
  4. Set Passcode: Enter and confirm your chosen passcode.
  5. Smart Lock: Optionally, set up Smart Lock to keep your device unlocked in trusted locations or when connected to trusted devices.
