Trellix for Mac

All users of computer facilities on the University of Galway network have a responsibility to follow best practice in avoiding infection by computer viruses, whether you are using University-owned or privately owned equipment.

Installing Trellix (formally McAfee VirusScan)

  1. Download the Trellix Installation File Here 
    • Click on the provided link. 
    • Sign in with your UoG email account. 
  2. Log into your account: 
    • You will be prompted to log in. 
  3. Download the installation file: 
    • Click on "Download" to start the download. 
  4. Install Trellix Endpoint Security: 
    • Double-click on the downloaded file with ".dmg" extension
    • Follow the onscreen instructions. 
  5. Finish the installation: 
    • Click "Finish" once the installation is complete.

Practice safe computing 

Always remember that anti-virus software can only ever protect against viruses known to it, so it stands to reason that the virus writers will always be one step ahead. With this in mind, you should at all times follow the recommendations for safe computing particularly in areas such as email or Internet usage.
