University IT Principles

The University IT Principles have been defined for use as guidelines for ICT and digital initiatives to ensure they are aligned, directed and monitored to support University of Galway strategic priorities.

The University IT Principles are a set of design principles whose purpose is to provide governance, consistency and an enterprise perspective to support decision making around ICT and digital projects, IT policy and related initiatives at University of Galway.

The University IT Principles provide high-level guidance for the way in which University IT shall be assembled, connected and interact. The principles also facilitate the adoption of standards and guidelines that encourage consistency across ICT project implementation and form part of the IT governance toolset available to the, soon to be established, University Enterprise Architecture Review Board (EARB).

The University IT Principles are statements of value that inform and support the way in which our university fulfils its strategic mission. Alignment with the principles should be a goal for any ICT and digital initiative.

The scope of these principles is University wide.

The Digital Governance Committee, a sub-committee of UMT, have approved the University IT Principles.
