Learning Agreements
The 'Receiving Responsible Person' who must sign your learning agreement is your University of Galway Academic Coordinator, not the Incoming Erasmus Coordinator. Semester 1 Academic Coordinators and Semester 2 Academic Coordinators can be found in the Visiting Student Handbooks.
Any questions regarding course content and credit weightings should also be directed to your Academic Coordinator.
University of Galway does not have a deadline for receipt of learning agreements from incoming Erasmus students - this is left to the descretion of your home university.
Registering for modules
Module / Course Selection:
- You may only select courses that are available to visiting students in our Visiting Student Hanbooks. You will not be permitted to register for courses not included in the Handbooks.
- Some module restrictions may apply to some areas of study - if you have any questions regarding this, please refer to your University of Galway Academic Coordinator.
- You must only select courses/modules in the subject area detailed in the bilateral agreement under which you are studying.
- For example, if your main area of study is Business or Languages you will not be permitted to take courses in Engineering or Biochemistry.
Please make your course choices in consultation with your academic coordinator at your home university. Recognition for courses taken and examinations passed at University of Galway during your Erasmus visit will be a matter for your home university.
Course/ Module registration
- This will be done online by students after their arrival.
- In some instances students will have to be manually registered by the Incoming Erasmus Coordinator.
- Students requiring manual registration will be told at Orientation and will be able to make an appointment to get registered manually.
- Instructions on how to register for courses will be provided at our Orientation sessions.
- Only students studying Science & Engineering will be registered in advance.
You must ensure that you register online for each course/module that you are taking. Failure to do so will mean the course is not reflected on your record, you will not be invited to sit the exam nor will it appear on your transcript.
