Aurora Alumni

                                        Aurora Alumni

The University of Galway’s Aurora Alumni Network was launched in November 2023, and as of December 2025, 126 former Aurorans from across the University have joined the network.

The purpose of the network is to help University of Galway Aurorans reconnect with their programme cohorts and to broaden their connections with other women leaders who have completed Aurora. Our aim is to create a supportive and inspiring community that empowers members to continue their personal and professional development and the OVPEDI hosts an Aurora Alumni event annually.

Past University of Galway Aurorans can join the Aurora Alumni mailing list by completing this form, ensuring they receive updates about future events and opportunities.

Aurora Alumni Peer Coaching Programme

In collaboration with Anna Cunningham, the University’s Head of Staff Coaching and panel chair at the event, we have developed a new Aurora Alumni Peer Coaching Programme. Building on your Aurora experience, this initiative aims to support continued learning, mutual support, and the practical application of shared knowledge.

Introduction to the Aurora Alumni Peer Coaching Programme

The Peer Coaching Programme is a collaborative process where Aurora Alumni support each other’s professional and personal development. It emphasizes mutual learning, problem-solving, and growth through guided conversations and constructive feedback. It aims to foster equality and shared accountability.

Peer coaching can serve as a safe space for staff to openly discuss their experiences, challenges, and achievements at work. Through this reflective dialogue, staff can gain valuable insights into their own and others' approaches, which often leads to new perspectives on problem-solving and decision-making.

How will the programme work?

Following an expression of interest, training and support will be provided by the University’s Internal Coaching Panel. Training is currently scheduled to take place 9.30-1pm, Tuesday November 11th.

Aims of the Programme

  1. Develop skills through observing and receiving feedback from colleagues.
  1. Increase confidence by practicing skills in a supportive environment and receiving constructive feedback.
  1. Improve problem-solving by understanding different perspectives, enhancing ability to tackle challenges creatively.
  1. Enhance communication and feedback skills via training with experienced coaches.
  1. Build stronger relationships as part of a more cohesive and supportive work environment.
  1. Enhance career growth by helping participants refine decision-making, empathy, and interpersonal skills crucial for career advancement.
