Cancer Survivorship
Prof Aoife Lowery leads the Women's Health Initiative in Galway with Dr Veronica McInerney and the Clinical Research Facility. This programme is co-funded by the Irish Cancer Society and the National Breast Cancer Research Institute.
Cancer Rehabilitation and Exercise
Dr Ananya Gupta leads the Can-REACT programme, an exercise-based rehabilitation and wellness programme for cancer survivors.
CAR-T and Cell Therapy
Prof Michael O'Dwyer is the CAR-T and Cancer Cell Therapy lead for the HSE West and North West and leads an active cell therapy research group.
CardioOncology
Professor Aoife Lowery and Professor Michael Kerin work with the CORRIB Core Lab and the SmartSensors lab in the area of cancer treatment related cardiac dysfunction.
Cancer Nursing
Dr Maura Dowling, School of Nursing, leads the Galway arm of the EU-funded DigiCanTrain and EdCanNurs programmes.
Dr Peter Carr leads the Vascular Access and Infusion Therapy research group
Radiation Oncology Clinical Trials
Dr Joe Martin leads the University Hospital Galway Irish Research Radiation Oncology Group (IRROG) trials cluster.
Cancer Clinical Trials
Dr Janusz Krawczyk and Professor Aoife Lowery lead the Advanced Therapies and Cancer Clinical Trials Cluster and the HRB-Clinical Research Facility, respectively, supported by the HRB-Cancer Trials Enhancement Award. Dr Veronica McInerney is the Cancer Clinical Trials Programme Manager.
