A report (read here) published by the Irish Network of Legal Observers – of which the Irish Centre for Human Right’s Dr Illan Wall is a co-organiser – has found that actions of members of An Garda Síochána violated garda policies and international human rights obligations under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the European Convention on Human Rights.   
 
A team of seven legal observers observed the policing of a pro-Palestine demonstration, in which the gardaí restrained and dispersed protesters using force and pepper spray.

Dr Illan Wall also recently commented on the on-going campaign of civil disobedience around the proscription of Palestine Action in the Irish Examiner.
