Class of 1965 60th Anniversary Reunion

Class of 1965 Celebrate 60-Year Reunion at University of Galway
Graduates of the Class of 1965 returned to the University of Galway on Monday, 15 December, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of their graduation at a reunion lunch in the Aula Maxima.
The event was a chance for alumni to reconnect with former classmates, share memories, and reflect on their time at the University. The lunch opened with a welcome from University President Professor David Burn, who acknowledged the strong bond between the University and its alumni and paid tribute to the contributions of the Class of 1965 over the past six decades.
Guest of honour was Michael D. Higgins, former lecturer and recently retired President of Ireland, who graduated with a BComm in 1965. His presence made the celebration even more special.
A display from the University Archives gave attendees a glimpse into student life and academic culture in the mid-1960s.
A notable feature of the reunion was the presence of four members of the original Comhairle Teachta na Mac Léinn (CTM), the Students' Union Council inaugurated in 1964: Michael D. Higgins (President), Gearóid Ó Tuathagh, Pat Fallon, and Luke Clancy.
