Accommodation
Finding accommodation in Galway city can be challenging. Prospective students should start looking in mid-February for accommodation for the upcoming academic year.
Campus Accommodation
Campus Accommodation is for first year students only and is allocated through a general lottery. Applications open in mid to late February and closing a few weeks afterwards.
Incoming first year students with care experience who would like campus accommodation should:
A. Apply through the general lottery before the deadline
B Email betty.attwood@universityofgalway.ie and access@universityofgalway.ie and request to be added to the back-up accommodation list. Include your name, email, phone number, and what campus village you applied for the type of room (sharing, single, double).
A number of rooms have been reserved for first year care experienced students. Campus accommodation has approved some care experienced students staying over the summer when necessary. This needs to be arranged at the time of signing the lease.
Private Students Residencies
Several private residences are located around Galway, you can contact Betty or accommodation@universityofgalway.ie for a list of options including The Westwood and The Swuite, Dunaras, Gort na Coiribe and Galway Central, and Menlo Park Apartments; Atlantis Apartments and Donegan Court take group bookings for 3,4 and 5 students.
If a students secures housing in student villages, they are prioritised for future years, which makes them a good long-term housing option that students may be able to remain at for the whole time of their studies.
Accommodation Advisory Service
Call to the Accommodation Advisory office on the 1st Floor of Áras Uí Chathail where they cab advise and support you in your search for housing. They are open from 10am-12:30am and 14pm-16pm. Join the online website, Studentpad to get property alerts emailed directly to you whenever accommodation becomes available that matches what your requirements.
