Information sessions
Students due to start study abroad in Semester 2 (early 2026) can view the slides from the Study Abroad Preparation Meeting (Semester 2) that was held on 8th October, 2025. This event was part 1 of your study abroad preparations, and it covered topics like the application to the host university, accommodation, academic planning and the learning agreement, financial planning, and insurance.
Update: December 2025.  Now that your departure date is getting closer, the next stage is the  pre-departure session for Semester 2 outgoing students aimed at helping you with your final preparations for moving abroad.  It includes a pre-departure checklist, and it looks in more detail at topics like insurance, culture shock, personal safety, and getting the most out of the study abroad experience, as well as the Mobility Assessment (risk assessment) that all students will have to complete before departure.  There are tips and advice from students who were abroad previously.
A video version of this pre-departure session, with commentary, is being sent to all outbound Semester 2 students.
Please read carefully the email sent to you by the Mobility Officer, and don't forget to do your Mobility Assessment!

Partner university information
Fact sheets for many of our partner universities are available on our Destinations page. This page is updated when new fact sheets are sent to us by partner universities.

Financial planning
An important consideration for anyone planning to study abroad is finance.  The Global Galway website has some useful information on Financial Planning for Study Abroad, including a very helpful document showing the estimated costs for non-EU destinations.  See also their page on Financial Planning for Erasmus students.
