Transition to Payable EV Charging Network, Effective June 16, 2025
Dear Colleagues,
The EV charging network on the University of Galway campus will be transitioning to a payable system starting June 16, 2025. This change is being introduced to support the continued availability and efficient use of the charging infrastructure for all students and staff.
- All employees and students will now be charged for the energy consumed during their EV charging sessions.
- Rates will be visible in the Monta app. The first 4 hours will be charged at a standard rate, with higher rates applied thereafter to encourage charger availability.
- The current fob system will be deactivated on the June 6, 2025.
- The University's EV charging network will be managed by EC-Charging.
- Please see below instructions for downloading and using the Monta app.
Instructions for EV Users – Monta App
- Download the Monta App from the AppStore or Google play.
- Create an account and select payment method.
- The Monta App can be used, or you may purchase a charging fob/card.
- Select the ChargePoint in the Monta App.
- Start charging using the app.
- You will receive an automated bill after each session, detailing energy usage and costs.
- Scan the QR code below for access to Monta’s support and help page.
